Paige led the team in errors in 2009 playing 2nd base, most of those came in the early part of the season. Her defensive play improved dramatically as the season progressed. I saw her make 2 plays that I thought she didn't have a prayer to make; that included getting to the ball in the first place, and then making the throw to 1st base for the out. So she became an asset defensively. However, I do not believe she will be playing 2nd base again. I think she may be moved over to 3rd base with the departure of Cameron Norton, but this remains to be seen.
Paige's batting average improved a whopping 126 points from her Freshman year, and at one time during the season was easily the team's best hitter. She did lead the Griffs in doubles (9). She also led the team in getting hit by pitches, and was a close second in walks. Paige knows how to get on base. She was also 2nd on the team in runs scored. She was named to the All-MAAC 2nd Team. I think Paige has the potential for another dramatic increase in batting average.
Paige started 20 games in her freshman season, and had 11 RBIs. She had a pinch hit against Arizona in the NCAA Tournament.
Paige was a 4 year letter winner at St. Mary's High School, where she was selected All League 4 times and finished with a .385 hitting average.
