Lauryn saw action at 2nd base, designated player, a bit of 1st base, and was used as the Griffs' primary pinch runner her Freshman season. Lauren Hope is the Griffs' fastest runner, but IMO, Lauryn is the team's best base runner. Her best game may have been the regular season win vs. Niagara, where she manufactured the Griffs' first 2 runs with her base running when the team was otherwise not playing well. Lauryn is a slap hitter who is extremely fast out of the hitter's box, and around the bases. She was 3 for 4 in stolen bases. She is also an excellent bunter, and can turn a bunt into a single. She was very steady at 2nd base when she did play there; I expect her to be the starter at 2nd now, we'll see. Lauryn has a reputation coming to Canisius as a fast learner and hard worker. On the field, she is intense, but composed. She did flirt with a .300 average for a while during the team's western swing; I would expect her hitting to improve this season.
Lauryn was a 4 year letter winner at Gilroy High School where she had a .402 career batting average, and was named team MVP and second team all state (California). She also played for the Salinas Wildcats.
