Emily Helbig

Junior

Marina,CA

#33 1B

2009: .258

2008: .314

Although Emily's average dropped her sophomore season, she was again outstanding against the MAAC, batting for a .344 average, which led the Griffs in MAAC play. Her average went up when the stakes went up. Of course, Emly is an outstanding defensive player, probably the best on the team, if not the whole MAAC. In fact, Emily led the MAAC in fielding percentage, not committing a single error in 2009. If she doesn't catch the ball at 1st base, it wasn't catchable. She's also a very aware player on the field, making a few putouts at home plate last year. Emily has the ability to be a serious homer threat, but has yet to realize that potential.

Emily started 44 games in her freshman season and hit for a .314 average. She was selected for the All MAAC second team, and the All MAAC Tournament team.

Emily was a 4 year letter winner at Santa Catalina High School and was honored as an All League and All County selection and had an incredible .520 hitting average for her high school career. She also won 3 letters during her basketball career.
